UUC is one of the 23 Founding Members of the Stamford 2030 Districts, a partnership of property owners and managers and community and professional partners working together to create a downtown district of cleaner, greener buildings. Stamford is the sixth city across the country to join this national initiative in which leading-edge cities become pioneers to demonstrate large shared commitment to reduce energy use, water use, and transportation emissions. In addition, because of Stamford’s coastal location, we are the first city to add the goal to increase our community’s and local economy’s resilience to storms and sea-level rise.
With our historic UUC buildings we will be able to participate in collaboration, shared resources, and leveraged financing if appropriate, to discovery creative strategies and best practices for sustainable resource utilization in buildings such as ours. In that way we will also contribute to the shared common goal.
