For infants, young adopted children and families with young children new to the congregation, Child Dedications are ceremonies of welcome and blessing. Families wishing to bless a new child’s arrival in a manner other than baptism can find creating a dedication ceremony very meaningful for themselves and for family members.

Child Dedications are created by the parents and the minister working closely together. They often include: a blessing for the child’s new life; an expression of the love and commitment to the child’s well-being from the parent or parents, the extended families and friends; and a promise by the congregation, including the assembled children, to offer friendship, guidance and nurture for the child’s spiritual life.
